Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale

Aaron Schillinger (Dir), 78 minutes, USA, North East Premiere

Director Aaron Schillinger and Professor Victoria Wolcott, PhD (Interview Participant) in attendance.

Narrated by Motown legend Martha Reeves, this family-friendly documentary uses claymation, archival footage and interviews with historians, boat fanatics – even a psychic – to tell the stories of sister steamships the SS St. Claire and SS Columbia, and the worlds that they have traveled through. Focused on the ships’ origin story in Detroit, the film also features its lens on other key Great Lakes’ locations, including Buffalo where the SS Columbia is currently docked at Silo City on the Buffalo River.
