Stories about home (the feeling and the place).

Total runtime is 74 minutes.

“Gillyfish”

Sarah Sellman (Dir), 11 minutes, Ireland, Western New York Premiere

When GILLIAN takes on her partner’s identity to confront their father, she finds a connection she didn't expect in the strange exchange she has with him. A short about healing by proxy, and stepping into new identities.

"flè dè me"

Bathschèba Duronvil (Dir), 8 minutes, USA, World Premiere

Director Bathschèba Duronvil in attendance.

"Flè dè me" is an experimental film about 4-year-old Bathschèba's retelling of their adoption story. Young Bathschèba takes us through their fears of coming to America and the strange, silly, and scary new things about this country in order to unpack the complexity of their childhood.

"Greenhorn"

Sabrina Way (Dir), 20 minutes, Canada, Western New York Premiere

A young masculine-presenting woman must return home to help her estranged father, an ex-rancher, recover from a car accident — only to discover that reconciliation isn’t so easy when identity is at stake.

"Rainpour"

Clara Ferrer + Marcella Coelho De Finis (Dir), 20 minutes, Brazil, Western New York Premiere

In Portuguese w/ English subtitles.

Aiyra left her small hometown to work in the big city. Conceição, her mother, left many years ago, but she returned. Ursula, the grandmother, is ready to embark on a journey from which there is no return. As an unprecedented storm approaches, the three women spend a weekend together, forced to confront all the choices that took them apart and the concessions needed for them to be together again. The only way a tree can survive a rainpour is with strong roots.

Many thanks to Manifest Pictures.

"Mensch"

Luca Lellouche (Dir), 16 minutes, France, Western New York Premiere

In French w/ English subtitles.

Esther is a young midwife, every day after her shift, her grandmother Laya waits for her and prepares meals with flavors from her childhood. That night, Esther has a disturbing encounter with one of her patients. Esther and Laya lead lives out of sync with their times, one through her profession and the other through her age. "Mensch" is a twenty-four-hour immersion into the lives of these two women; it's a story of transmission and selflessness.

Many thanks to Manifest Pictures.
