Possible Love

가능한 사랑

Lee Chang-dong (Dir), 164 minutes, South Korea, Western New York Premiere

In Korean w/ English subtitles.

A fired factory worker and his wife become the focus of an affluent couples' documentary in Lee Chang-dong’s brilliant, expansive narrative film about economic instability and the ethics of nonfiction filmmaking.

Working-class Mi-ok (Jeon Do-yeon) and Ho-seok (Sul Kyung-gu) are still reeling from Ho-seok’s firing after a violently suppressed labor union strike, when their lives collide with wealthy couple Ye-ji (Cho Yeo-jeong) and Sang-woo (Zo In-sung) after Ye-ji decides to make a film about the union strike and layoffs. Resentments, shifting allegiances, and sexual desires come to the surface as their lives become increasingly entangled and relationships develop.

Winner of the Silver Lion at the 2026 Venice Film Festival and South Korea’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2027 Academy Awards. A Netflix Release.

Many thanks to Netflix.
