In 1987, gifted guitarist Derek Carver left his dead-end life in Grand Rapids to chase fame in L.A., landing a spot in the swaggering hard-rock band Boy Elroy, led by magnetic but volatile singer Kimmi Gaines. As Derek’s riffs ignite crowds, he falls for actress Iona and navigates rising band tensions. Along the way, he discovers that the music industry’s glitter hides ruthless compromises, forcing him to confront what the dream is really worth.
